20-Minute Missions for Utah Neighborhoods

This weekend brings high winds, 6% humidity, and extreme fire behavior. Here’s how your block can quickly reduce ignition risk:

1. 5-FOOT CLEAN ZONE: Remove anything combustible next to the home.

2. ROOF & GUTTER SWEEP: Clear leaves, needles, and debris — embers can travel miles.

3. SPARK AUDIT: Avoid mowing, grinding, welding, or dragging trailer chains.

4. MORNING MOISTURE BOOST: Water early to increase humidity around the home.

5. TWO-ROUTE PLAN: Know two evacuation routes and keep vehicles fueled.

6. NEIGHBOR CHECK: Assist elderly or mobility-limited neighbors in completing the checklist.

7. EARLY DETECTION MINDSET: Report smoke immediately; seconds matter.
