UPDATE
Hawk Fire Update — Peavine Mountain / Verdi–Mogul Corridor
The Hawk Fire northwest of Reno continues to show wind‑driven behavior this afternoon as it moves through the high‑desert terrain west of Peavine Mountain. This area is a mix of creeks, cheatgrass, sage, and scattered ponderosas — fuels that can support fast runs when winds align with the canyon and the I‑80 corridor.

To the east, the landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade. New neighborhoods now extend deep into sagebrush country along the Peavine foothills, increasing the exposure footprint as winds push smoke and embers toward the Verdi–Mogul interface. Evacuation orders and warnings now cover a large portion of the corridor as crews work to protect homes and critical infrastructure.
FieldSpan will continue monitoring wind behavior, smoke structure, and any changes in fire movement as conditions evolve.
