Future Focused Solutions
We are excited to introduce our FieldSpan newsletter, a platform designed to be a source of engagement for those focused on creating solutions that address:
Demand exceeding our current generation capabilities
By 2030 demand is estimated to grow by 25%
Electrification of America and the various technologies that support this evolution have exasperated a problem long in the making.
FieldSpan’s answer:
Smart Communities and Rural Energy Islands that behave like a microgrid, but scale like a movement.
How does this work?
FieldSpan’s revolutionary concept for Smart Communities and their potential contribution to both peak and future demand.
Smart Communities Snapshot:
New home construction 60 homes, each 2,500 sq. ft. and fully electrified to maximize efficiency.
Daily load- 3000 kwh
Potential Peak Demand offset- 3 MW over 4 hours
Energy Vaults enable this community to be a stand-alone energy island during times of need
For utilities value is realized:
Provides a tool to manage peak demand quickly through isolation.
A clear measurement of KW’s gained through isolation
A new source of concentrated generation that is always available when the need arises.
Outages in these neighborhoods become an exception instead of a rule.
Required energy purchases on the open market can be reduced
Resilience Incentives via demand response and capacity credits.
Carbon offset
Positions host utility as a partner, working with Public
Utility Commissions and local communities to address
demand issues.
For those of us operating outside the host utility world, I recommend taking time to consider how your organization can benefit from the Smart Community proposal and a potential partnership with FieldSpan.
On Monday October 6th our 2nd issue will focus on RuralEnergy Islands and the Energy Vault concept.
